Washing Instructions for Your Football Shirt
Taking good care of your football shirt ensures it stays vibrant and in top condition for many years to come. The Football Kit Gods can not be held accountable if these instructions are not followed. Follow these simple washing instructions:
1. Pre-treatment:
- Before washing, inspect your shirt for stains, dirt, or grass marks. Spot clean any visible stains using a mild stain remover or a mixture of mild detergent and water. Gently blot the stain without rubbing to avoid damaging the fabric.
2. Sort Your Laundry:
- Always separate your football shirt from other garments to prevent color bleeding and snags. Wash it with similar-colored items or alone.
3. Turn It Inside Out:
- To preserve the print and minimize friction on the fabric, turn your football shirt inside out before washing.
4. Washing Machine:
- Use a washing machine with a gentle or delicate cycle to protect the fabric’s integrity.
- Wash your football shirt in cold water or in other cases on a maximum of 30°C or 86°F. Do this to prevent color fading and preserve the fabric.
- Check if the centrifuge on you washing program is not too high. Too high may cause the fabric to damage and you wouldn’t want that. Set you centrifuge on medium strength.
5. Detergent:
- Use a mild, color-safe laundry detergent. Avoid heavy-duty or abrasive detergents that can harm the fabric and colors.
- Under no circumstances should fabric conditioner or bleach be used as this may remove print and patches from shirts.
6. Washing:
- Place your football shirt in the washing machine and start the cycle.
- If possible, use a mesh laundry bag to further protect the shirt from friction with other garments.
7. Drying:
- Air drying is the best option to maintain the shirt’s quality. Hang it on a drying rack or a clothesline in a shaded area. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can fade the colors. The fabrics are usually made of soft and light materials like polyester. These usually do not take more than a few hours to dry.
- If you need to use a dryer, make sure you get that out of your head. A dryer will most certainly destroy your shirt printing and it could also shrink your shirt.
9. Storage:
- Store your football shirt in a cool, dry place. Avoid hanging it on wire hangers, as they can stretch the fabric. Instead, use padded or plastic hangers.
