Ajax Amsterdam Away 1995/1996
In season 1995/1996, Ajax, won the UEFA Champions League in the 1994/1995 season by beating AC Milan in the final. The following season, in 1995/1996, Ajax reached the Champions League final again but lost to Juventus after penalties, missing out on their second consecutive Champions League title.
Their journey to the final was not an easy one, despite facing tough opponents like Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. Who funny enough won the Champions League in 1996/1997. In the final, Ajax faced off against Juventus. After 13 minutes Juve took the lead with a goal from Fabrizio Ravanelli. Jari Litmanen equalized and after 120 minutes it was down to penalties. Unfortunately the ‘Juventini’ took the better spot kicks and Ajax lost. Although they lost this final, they would did win the Eredivisie, the Dutch Cup, the European Super Cup and they World Cup that season.
Fans all around the world will now the Ajax Amsterdam 1995/1996 team. They were one of the greatest generations of youngsters the club has produced. After a while all of the players got transferred to bigger clubs like AC Milan, Arsenal and FC Barcelona.
